METHODOLOGY

our mission is to make your vacation the best vacation.

When we travel to a certain destination, we aim to satisfy the curiosity that led us there. If you leave not feeling satisfied, you could always visit the same place again, but with so many interesting places to see and limited time to see them all, it's no guarantee you'll return to the same place. Why not just make the most of your destination while you're there?

That's where UV comes in. For each destination, we put in months of research, compiling the best-reviewed things to do and organizing them by location for efficient sight-seeing. Then we actually travel there (who ever said work was boring?) and check everything out to make sure all the stops are both unique and rewarding. Then we filter out the best of the best into the free guides you see on this site.

You'll still need to do a bit of planning to book your hotels and figure out where to eat, but the free guides give you a good starting point. Alternatively, if you don't have the time to plan or would prefer to have the work done for you, we could customize the whole trip, just for you. All you have to do is tell us your preferences and we'll take care of the rest.

What Inspires Us

We Believe traveling is the best way to broaden your horizons.

Before we started traveling, we were different people. Traveling changed us in a way that no school or book could do. It exposes you not just to new places, but to new people and new ideas. The more you experience, the more you learn, grow, and appreciate the world.

Traveling can be expensive though, and not everyone has time to take extended vacation. Some professions offer "unlimited vacay," the ability to come and go from work as you please, but few people are so lucky. We want to take that concept and extend it to everyone, regardless of your budget or how much time you have. We want everyone to be able to travel, and to see the world, without limits.

How do you decide which destinations to feature?

We try to feature a mix of destinations that are either growing in popularity or already established as tourist destinations. We look for places that have enough unique highlights to make a short or long stay worthwhile.

HOW DO YOU DECIDE WHICH PLACES TO SEE IN A GIVEN DESTINATION?

We aim to include both "touristy" sites as an introduction to a place as well as hidden gems for further exploration. Most of the things we include you wouldn't be able to see or do elsewhere. We leave out things like science museums and zoos, which you could see anywhere, unless there's a special feature worth seeing, like a special exhibition at an art museum.

Why do you charge to include hotels and restaurants?

Our free itineraries are comprised of permanent features, so we rarely need to update unless a new attraction opens or is discovered. In contrast, the popularity of restaurants and hotels vary more frequently and our recommendations can change weekly. Nevertheless, we try to recommend a mix of both established and trending places, depending on traveler preferences.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT THAN A TRAVEL AGENT?

Travel agents are like our ancestors, but we do things a bit differently. The big difference is we don't simply recommend a generic list of things to do that we may or may not have done ourselves. Everything we recommend has highly-favorable online reviews and has been visited and approved by our editorial team for both quality and uniqueness.

HOW ARE YOU DIFFERENT THAN A TRAVEL BLOG?

Travel blogs are like our siblings, at least the ones that just talk about themselves all the time. As much as we'd love to tell you about our husband Jack's love for authentic Mexican tortas or our wife Jill's dream of petting puffins in Iceland, we'll spare you the personal stories. We're just here to tell you the coolest things to do on vacation so you can go ahead and create your own memories.
